Apple Activities and a Freebie

For the past two weeks we've been working on apples. Our overall question was "How do apples grow?"

One of the many activities we worked on as a group was creating a chart with apple facts.
Here's a freebie you might be able to use in your classroom.

Sight Word Practice Freebie

I am always trying to make a connection with school and home. One way is to have parents practice popcorn words or sight words. Besides the obvious flash cards, I have a little poster students make every week. Normally, students write the popcorn words then take the poster home and hang it up. This year I had to make some changes. Some children were struggling with writing on the lines so I made some modifications. Click on the link below to grab your freebie and customize it.

Apple Emergent Readers

For the next two weeks we'll be working on our apple unit. We'll be learning about the life cycle of an apple, visiting an apple orchard, and doing some fun apple crafts. I created some apple emergent readers that I'll be using in the classroom.

As all of you know, you always have students who are performing at different levels. I like creating readers to reach and challenge those. Each reader has the same picture, but the text is different. These are perfect for your guided reading groups! And thank you Fran from Kindergarten Crayons for giving me the idea to add the black dots underneath the text!! This is perfect for guiding those little fingers to point to each word. You can click below to head over to my TPT store. The packet is only $2.00!

Shapes

We've been working on shapes for the past two weeks. We've worked on identifying shapes along with how many sides and corners each shape has, and how to draw them.

Here are some library books I read. I like them because they use real life photos.

Here are some freebies I created for our learning journals. Click here for your freebie.
